Jester Cone Ornament

As promised I'm going to try to post more often.

I wanted to share a special Jester Container Ornament I created for someone that saw my Santa Container Ornaments on my website. I chose violet eyes for the jester and used violet velvet fabric for the outside of the cone. The inside is lined with gold satin fabric. His collar is made up of a variety of fabrics and ribbons. I just love the way he turned out. He measures about 16" from the top of his hat to the bottom of his beaded tassel. He will adorn a Mardi Gras Tree this year!

Sneak Peak

Once again this year I will be at The Village Artisans in Boiling Springs, PA for their Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 5th. Stop by between noon and 4pm and watch as demonstrate how I sculpt a Santa head.

New Wreaths!!!

I've created two new wreaths. The Santa faces on my wreaths are quite large. Before I add the bearding and hats they measure approximately 3"w x 5"h - after bearding they measure approximately 7"w x 12"h. The wreaths measure approximately 24" and come with a storage box and hanger.

Pictured below is a wreath in reds and the Santa has blue eyes.

SOLD

This wreath features burgundy's and the Santa as blue violet eyes.

STILL AVAILABLE

I created this wreath last year and it is still available.
Santa's hat is a sage green and he has green eyes. Crystal sprays, pine cones and gold/silver berries decorate the wreath.

SOLD

For more details about these three wreaths, please visit my website.

It isn't that I haven't been creating - I have - I just haven't made time to post... and how can I say it "life has gotten in the way" these past 6 months.

That being said I have three new Santas that I just got up on my website. They are all three currently available. To see additional images and find out more details click here.

I'm going to try to keep up with posting in the coming weeks!!!!

PS - some of you might have caught me on HGTV this week. They re-aired my segment on "That's Clever".

Jester Chest

I thought I would occasionally post pictures of things I have created that aren't currently on my website and aren't necessarily new.

This is a Jester Chest that I made for a dear friend of mine (that also happens to be an artist) for her 50th Birthday.

I found the chest in a catalog. I wanted to the Jester to be able to hold things in his hands so I created wire armatures for the hands and covered them with white cloth gloves. So that his arms would also be pose-able I used a beaded type armature.

He measures about 19" tall.

Abigail

Hello everyone!!
I have fallen behind on my posts and have resolved to do better in the coming weeks.

I'd like to introduce you to "Abigail". She is a special piece I created for my Mom. Since my Mom enjoys miniatures and Halloween I designed shelves in her skirt to be used for display. Abigail actually existed in my mind for about 2 years and it wasn't until now that had time to tackle creating her. I have to admit I couldn't be more thrilled with how she turned out!!!!

I hope you enjoy seeing some pictures of Abigail.

Abigail stands 30 1/2" tall to the top of her hat. Without her hat she is 25" tall.

Her skirt fabric is a sheer black with spiderwebs accented in glitter.
I used a black lining under her skirt. Here you can also see the shelving in her skirt.
I put miniature pumpkins in for the picture.

The embellishment at the neck of her blouse is a piece of antique black beaded embroidery accented with purple rhinestones.
Her spell book is handmade and is secured with a lock and chain.
The key can be found hanging from her waist - you can see the key in one of the above pictures.
She also holds a Halloween bucket full of gourds and berries.
She has smokey green glass eyes.

Last Santas for 2009

Here are the last two Santas I created in 2009. Both were special orders.

Below is a 22" Trunk Santa I created for a long time collector.
She sent me her mink coat to use for the Santa's costume.

I created this special piece for a collector that
ordered it as a gift for his brother and sister-in-law.
They have three boys and also collect snowmen which
inspired me to create "Building Frosty".
The Santa is approximately 18" tall
and the elves are approximately 12" tall.
The base measures 9" x 24".
